Tell us what you do?

I help build East Room's vital and growing community. An integral aspect of my role is to foster relationships and understand everyones current and future needs. In turn, contributing to the overall growth of each member who comes in our doors.

How did you end up working for East Room?

I've always had a love for design and immediately fell in love with East Room's unique and inspiring aesthetic. Soon after realizing that East Room was far more than just a beautiful space and wanted to have a hand in a company that is united by a passion for culture, creativity and community.

What is your biggest learning so far?

Not to sound too cliché, but the power of community and the impact of genuine hospitality. East Room feels like a home away from home which is a result of the individuals here and the authentic relationships that subsequently develop.

What is your favourite aspect of working for East Room?

Creating shared experiences and connections. It's incredibly fulfilling to have an impact on a diverse membership base and watch our members work come to life.

Everyday is different and that’s what I like about it. But, if there was one way to sum it up, it’s making sure our building and everything inside of it is running smoothly. Whether that’s routine building and property maintenance, IT support or making sure we have happy members, I’m on it. The other side of it is the ‘on paper’ part, reporting on and analyzing the metrics that support a healthy business.

How did you end up working for East Room?

I’m a local DJ and came into the space to record a session for our ‘Work Redux’ mix series. While chatting with Derreck and Jonathan we found mutual interests and that my professional experience as a Business Analyst could eventually come in handy at East Room. Fast forward 8 months and I was hired as a contractor to document and improve internal processes. Once that was done, I had a really good idea of how the business ran and seeing as we’re growing, it was only natural for me to move into the role of Operations Manager.

What is your biggest learing so far?

The sense of community between members has been stronger than I expected. With no experience in the coworking industry, I did not know what to expect. In any workplace, friendships are made, but in the case of coworking where people are coming from different companies and industries the opportunity for conversation and networking is high. To complement this with a more tactical learning, it’s got to be ‘under promise and over deliver’.

What is your favourite aspect of working for East Room?

The people! Of course, my East Room colleagues, but also the members. After working from home for 2 years, I was excited to get back in the swing of things, IRL. I’ve laughed more in the first couple of months here than I have in years. The member community has been extremely helpful in neighborhood suggestions, professional networking and lending an ear to conversation. I’ve learned so much about their respected industries and what makes a great coworking space.
